Democracy Sucks

“Stop imposing your views on me”

When people tell me that I’m imposing my views on them, it makes me sad, because they’re misunderstanding me. Here is what I mean when I talk about anarchist ideas:

I mean it in a defensive sense, not an offensive sense. The existence of the government is an imposition on us. I’m not trying to “violently impose” market anarchism on you, I’m trying to show you why the government should not be imposing itself on people who don’t want it to.

It’s ironic in my opinion because the government is the one violently imposing it’s choices on other people, and yet when I try to speak out against that, I get other people telling me I’m imposing myself on them.

Let’s say I’m getting mugged by some criminals and you’re passing by. You witness them beating me and taking my money, and you see me say to them “Hey stop stealing from me, leave me alone”. Would you really be correct to say that I’m imposing myself on them by telling them not to steal from me?

Now if it’s just that you don’t think tax is theft, or that government is slavery, that’s a separate matter altogether! Then instead of saying “Stop imposing your views on me”, you should be saying to me “No that’s not really a thief”. See what I mean?

You have the right to choose what to do with your life, but you don’t have the right to choose what to do with mine (I also don’t have the right to choose what you do with your life). Me saying that I want you to stop choosing for me, is not an imposition on you, it’s just me wanting my right back.

The Moral Argument for God’s Existence Refuted

Interesting video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s8WkTD0i6M

So when people argue that “if there were no God, there would be no moral rules” – even if it were true that without god we’d have no moral rules, it still says absolutely nothing about whether or not God exists.

World Youth Day

Alright I wasn’t originally going to bother writing about this, but all the recent news coverage has got me really pissed off. So basically the pope and his chums are coming down under to spread their lies and misinformation – bad enough on its own. But when you add the fact that they’re doing it with australian taxpayer money, and we’re getting our rights trampled on once again, it becomes even worse.

Thou shalt not annoy on Youth Day – “EXTRAORDINARY new powers will allow police to arrest and fine people for “causing annoyance” to World Youth Day participants and permit partial strip searches at hundreds of Sydney sites, beginning today.”

Protests need our blessing, say police – “POLICE have told organisations planning to campaign during World Youth Day events they need to have placards, banners and T-shirts pre-approved or risk losing their protest “rights” – even those groups representing victims of sexual abuse by Catholic priests.”

The thing that makes the least sense is: There is no such thing as “protest rights”, there are only the rights that all people have, and none of those rights includes the power to fine people for expressing a belief in something other than an imaginary man who lives in the sky. It really annoys me how childish and immature the church/government seems in not being able to accept viewpoints different from their own.

The church has been dying lately (less and less christians over time), and WYD is some last ditch attempt to brainwash the kids and reinforce this culture of believing in imaginary beings. It looks to me like they’re trying to make god “cool” again, and I very sincerely hope that they fail.
