Why
Here are some posts that I think are particularly important in the way that they relate to why governments should not be imposing themselves on people.
- What if I disagree?
- Tax is Theft
- Voting is supporting violence
- “But the government isn’t violent towards me!”
- “If you don’t like it, you’re free to leave”
- It all stems from self-ownership
- “Just go and politically campaign!”
- “Stop imposing your views on me”
And of course I can completely understand if you have questions about how such a society would work, which is why I’ve created a How page, where I will try to present clear and simple explanations for how it might all work. While I am happy to show you ideas on how things might work, there is one thing that I must stress here: Your support for the idea that governments are immoral should not rest on the strength of the proposed solution, since this is like saying “Don’t free the slaves, because if the slaves were freed, what if they couldn’t all find jobs? So keep them all as slaves.”
If you can agree that something wrong is happening now (Slavery in my example/Government), and we can see other ways of doing things that aren’t wrong (Not using slavery/Anarchism), then we should try to move towards those solutions. So as you can see, it’s not an argument based on efficiency, it’s an argument based on morality.
